About Us

Our Story

In 1992, a Garland church acquired an abandoned fitness center in a culturally diverse and underserved area of West Garland. As a result, Metro Family Ministries, Inc. (MFM) was formed as a 501c(3) nonprofit corporation to oversee and equip a variety of ministries and volunteers to meet needs and develop community.

The ROC is a community center in Garland, Texas with a mission to meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our diverse community through resourcing and relationships. Whether it is through our Children's Programs, Food Pantry, or Clothes Closet, our hope is that each of our neighbors are welcomed with dignity, hospitality, and compassion.

Approximately 20,000 people—that’s nearly 10% of the population of Garland—live within a one mile radius of the ROC. The ROC is a common meeting place for uncommon connections. We want to develop life-giving relationships with God and neighbor.

Ministering

Our intent is to be a ministry which ministers unselfishly to persons in the  community and the whole world in Jesus’ name realizing that many times we  must meet one’s physical needs before we can meet their spiritual needs.

Fellowship

We desire to make God’s love our aim and to develop the warmest, friendliest  fellowship in Garland. Involved in this is prayer for each other, care of each  other, and love for each other regardless of differences.

Witnessing

We strive to be a dynamic spiritual ministry empowered by the Holy Spirit to  share Jesus Christ with as many people as possible in our community and  throughout the world, while leaving the results to God.
